Every single ingredient is put to the test and nothing is left to chance when it comes to the inspection and selection of our ingredients. Embrace good, eliminate bad is our credo, and only the best pull through.
As much as we love to indulge in sensory pleasure, nothing pleases us more than the naked, unadorned truth. In fact, transparency is a guiding principle in everything we do. We share information openly throughout our supply chain, eagerly documenting where and how our ingredients are sourced and processed. A note on chemicals
Not all chemicals are bad (and not all natural ingredients are good or safe, either). Chemical safety, however, is crucial to Astalou. This means:
No use of chemical substances known to have a negative effect on the consumer or the health of nature. Ingredients are assessed in terms of degradability, bioaccumulability and toxicity to aquatic organisms.
No substances classified as carcinogenic, mutagenic, harmful to reproduction or allergenic.
No substances on the EU list of potential endocrine disruptors.

The scent of safety
To minimise the risk of allergies and irritation, the Astalou signature scent contains organic and Nordic Ecolabelled ingredients only. This means:
No use of the 26 allergenic fragrance substances that the EU recommends avoiding.
No essential oils (because most contain one or more of the 26 allergens on the list).
Materials matter too
We work continuously to extend the life of our packaging, limit the use of packaging and contribute to resource efficiency. This means:
All packaging (except for our pumps) is recyclable.
No trace of BPA and phthalates.
